Undergraduate EducationUndergraduate education in life sciences is undergoing tremendous change. Curricular content continues to expand exponentially. The teaching methods traditionally used in the past are quickly giving way to more student-centered methods, such as inquiry-based and problem-based learning. In addition, multimedia formats play an increasingly important role in all undergraduate forums, both in campus-based classes and online courses. Finally, student population demographics have changed dramatically and will continue to change in the coming decade. Undergraduate faculty must address all of these issues in their courses in order to effectively instruct the next generation of biologists. The APS Archive of Teaching Resources can help you accomplish these goals. Here you will not only find labs, lessons, graphics, animations, career resources, and web sites that can enhance the content in your courses, but you will also be challenged to examine how you teach, with pedagogy suggestions linked to many of the teaching resources. You can share resources with your colleagues and get essential feedback on both content accuracy and process effectiveness. Content AccuracyEach item in the Archive has been reviewed by a scientific review panel for science content accuracy and the appropriate use of animals/humans in teaching. |
