| Description |
This is a description of a laboratory exercise to guide faculty in planning and writing a lab activity for students. In this activity students perform the cold pressor test to demonstrate the changes in blood pressure (BP) that follows an environmental stress. In this case, the student immerses one hand into ice water for 1-2 minutes and reports changes in blood pressure from baseline to recovery. Temperature and other environmental stressors are known to affect blood pressure and heart rate. |
